COVID-19 - What to expect when you stay with us

Churston Way Lodge Guest House will re-open for business on 17th May 2021.

As a consequence of COVID-19, we are making a number of changes in the way that we operate:

Flexible Cancellation Terms

We want you to be able to book with us safe in the knowledge that, should you need to cancel at short notice due to COVID-19, you can do so without incurring financial costs.


Two days before you are due to arrive we will email you two links to complete prior to your arrival:

  • an online Registration Card
  • an online COVID-19 Declaration
Completing these forms online will help us to speed up the check-in process. We will have a pre-printed registration form, containing the answers that you provide online, ready for you to sign when you arrive.


Only one set of guests can be seen for check in at any one time. In the event that different guests arrive at the same time, then you may have to wait in the car or outside the guest house until such time that you can be welcomed in. A minimum two metre distance should be maintained between yourselves, staff and other guests. You will be required to handle your own luggage unless you are physically not capable of doing so.

Face Masks

Following their announcement on 31st July, the government is extending the list of areas where face coverings are mandatory. For members of the public, from 8 August, this will be expanded to include public areas of holiday accommodation, including guest houses.

Rooms / room cleaning

There will be no daily room servicing. All ‘common touch’ items will have been removed from your room. These include toiletries, hair dryers, guest books, leaflets etc. We will explain in further detail on your arrival the ways in which we will deal with rubbish removal, drinks replenishment etc.


Only three tables can be occupied at the same time during breakfast service. In order to help facilitate this, you will be given a breakfast time slot as we will need to implement two sittings. All breakfast items, (including those normal served at the buffet), will need to be ordered the day/night before and these will be served directly to your table.


Payment balances will be taken from existing card details. In the event that you wish to settle with a different card, please advise us as soon as possible.

Feeling Unwell

In the event that you do not feel well prior to your stay, it is imperative that you do not travel. If you develop symptoms during your stay then you should return home immediately if safe to do so. In the unfortunate event that guests are required to isolate whilst here, then normal room rates will be incurred for the period of your isolation.
